About us
My inspiration for the first children's book on working dogs, ‘Pogo and Sootie’ came when I was training with my guide dog ‘Austin’. I could not get hold of a childrens book on working dogs to read to my sons that would help explain how Austin was going to help Mummy. As a result I decided to write a book myself.
Researching for the book, I discovered there are so many working dogs doing special jobs on our planet and I really want to tell as many of their stories as I can through childrens books.
Another part of what I do is interactive presentations. I visit as many organisations as I can in order to help adults and children understand the different types of vision impairment and blindness.
They also get to see and feel Braille, use a white cane and meet my gorgeous working dog. I read my book on working dogs and then the organisation hosting my presentation raises funds for themselves or their nominated charity by selling copies of my children's book. So everyone is a winner!
Out of everything bad comes something good, as long as you stay positive and keep an open mind.
Losing my vision has opened a whole new world of opportunity for me and I now have a career I love and am passionate about.
Thank you so much for your support,
Catherine
